Safety in the Insight begins with Honda’s innovative Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure. The design utilizes a complex network of frame structures that absorb crash energy and distribute it away from the occupants. It also minimizes the amount of force that is transferred to the other vehicle involved, keeping everyone on the road safer.
The Insight features a variety of passive safety features including airbags, locks, and seatbelts. These crucial components keep passengers safe should the worst happen, and though they might go on unnoticed at first, they are there when you need them most.
The active safety features in the Insight reinforce its reliability to take on any road in any type of weather. These features help the Insight maintain good tractive control, even on slippery or loose road surfaces, and Brake Assist brings the Insight to a complete stop more quickly and safely in an emergency braking situation. Also, a tire pressure monitoring system notifies drivers when a tire needs to be inflated to perform optimally and avoid safety risks.
Every model of the Insight comes equipped with a multi-angle rearview camera that allows drivers to check their surroundings before backing out. And with guidelines as a standard feature and dynamic guidelines as an upgrade on the EX and Touring models, drivers can maneuver in and out of tight spaces with ease and confidence. The camera includes three different views, each offering an optimal angle for different situations.
Honda Sensing, a suite of driver-assistive technology features, is standard on every model of the Insight. The package includes systems that warn, prevent, and mitigate impacts, helping drivers to see more, do more, and drive more safely.
The EX and Touring models include Honda LaneWatch, which minimizes the driver’s blindspot. A small camera is mounted on the passenger’s side mirror and displays a live video feed of activity in the driver’s blindspot when a right lane change is signaled. The video displays on the 8-inch audio touchscreen and allows drivers to see up to four times more than using the mirrors alone.
As drivers explore the upper trim levels, there are even more features geared toward safety. The speed-sensitive audio compensation automatically lowers the volume when the Insight slows down, such as in a merging situation or when entering a parking garage, to help the driver concentrate on the task at hand. And voice recognition technology allows drivers to input instructions to the navigation system without taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road.
